Supporters of a Duterte presidency, fail to see the very clear and present danger the Filipinos will be in, should Rodrigo Duterte win the presidency.
It is clear that with Duterte in Malacañang, he will be giving the nation the message that Filipinos have the right to kill suspects, whom Duterte and his ilk call criminals, even if they have not been convicted as yet. After all, Duterte himself kills suspects and even gets his death squad to kill any and all suspects, even when these suspects are engaged in petty crimes, crimes which do not even merit the death penalty.
You dont believe the danger the Filipinos are in, with Duterte in Malacañang?
Just last week, a Catholic priest celebrating mass in Masbate, was quoted as saying to Duterte and his flock in his parish that he has a list of criminals he wants Duterte to kill.
Fr. Lorenzo Bautista, rector of the Masbate Cathedral, asked Duterte, who was present, said in his homily, for him to make good his promise to kill as many criminals as he can should he eventually get elected president.
The rector, who is supposed to be a Catholic leader of his flock in Masbate, actually said he approves of Dutertes proposal for a tough proactive approach to combat criminality and corruption.
This is a priest, who presumably believes in God and in what not only what the Catholic bible says but also what the Pope exhorts his priests to do, following what the Ten Commandments states, especially in stating that one should not kill, was all out in encouraging Duterte to kill as many criminals as he can.
And when the priest got the flak from his flock, he does a Duterte, telling reporters that he was just joking.
As he put it: It is a joke. But if there are many here who are involved in the criminalities, corruption and drugs, they need to be killed.
I am with him (Duterte), the priest said.
Who is Bautistas bishop? Isnt his bishop even going to punish his priest for going against Catholic teachings and givin his flock the wrong moral message? Isnt the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines going to issue a pastoral letter denouncing this priest who even influences his flock of the need to kill criminals, because this is what is needed?
Where is the moral voice these bishops claim to have when they speak of politicians and politics in the realm of their moral duty?
And there went the hypocritical running mate of Duterte, Sen. Alan Cayetano, who even defended the criminal actions of Duterte. Yet he has the gall to moralize and come up with biblical passages, to make him look like a saint.
The point really is that having a Duterte presidency that treats rape as a joke, who refuses to change his ways, and refuses to apologize, and who tells Filipinos that the only way to have peace and order in the Philippines is to kill all the criminals (suspects really, since they have not been convicted).
What Duterte is really saying is that Filipinos should take the law into their hands and not to wait for the courts of justice to acquit or convict an accused. And what Duterte is encouraging his male supporters is for them to go ahead and rape women who are pretty, brag and laugh about the rape and the killing of children and other suspects, as he does, because what Duterte has really been saying when he claims he will not apologize for saying such as killing suspects and raping women, including housegirls, being lascivious, being a peeping tom and masturbating due to what he sees, having a bad mouth, for his p*t*nginas because all these are what he is, a kanto boy or a neighborhood toughie who grew up in a neighborhood of ruffians whose vocabulary and their ways are his ways and his vocabulary. And so should Filipinos emulate his cursing and his dirty ways of getting rid of suspects and raping women and never apologize for what he does in committing crimes against women, children, while having no respect for them and nor respect either for human lives. Or even for the law and the Constitution, because what he is admitting to having done, and will continue to do so, is certainly against the Constitution.
A Duterte presidency will transform Filipinos into becoming murderers and rapists, which will make us Filipinos no better than the murderous ISIS and the Boko Haram. And that is the real danger Filipinos face: Having a sociopath for a President Duterte.
