Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita was a 1998 Filipino romance-drama film produced by Star Cinema which stars Claudine Barretto, Diether Ocampo and Rico Yan. The movie was directed by Wenn V. Deramas.
After almost 18 years, the film is set for a teleserye remake on ABS-CBN which will star Julia Barretto and Ms. Claudine Barretto. Along with the casts are Kenzo Gutierrez, Julian Estrada, Sofia Andres, Karen Reyes, Andrea del Rosario and Richard Yap.
Synopsis:
The story begins when Rita (Ara Mina) died of an illness leaving her 4-year old daughter Mela (Julia Barretto) to her younger sister, Myrna (Claudine Barretto). As soon as her sister passed away, Myrna has been a mother and father to her niece Mela who grew up to be a happy go lucky and free-willed lady. As a parent, she has been very open minded to whatever Mela does and wants giving a lot of her trust and support.
At college, Mela, tagged as "the campus bad girl", met the immovable unswerving-laced Miguel (Kenzo Gutierrez) who has been avoiding her for the longest time. Until they eventually shock the people around them when they decided to go out. But the two are so much afflicted with each other to notice any objection set against their union. Their respective bitter exes, Ryan (Julian Mendoza) and Cory (Sofia Andres), however, will try to take away any chances of reconciliation between the two, as the scheme leaves Miguel feeling cheated and Mela distrusted.
Ryan being in a wealthy and well-known family, son of business tycoon Philip Quirino (Richard Yap) and high-status socialite Suzanne Quirino (Andrea del Rosario), it will be difficult for him to convince her family about her love for Mela considering of her status. The two will later on reveal a scandalous secret connecting their families which may interfere their longing love affair.
